Writing Process

Throughout the planning process, I was able to make a of connections on the study before it even came time to deciper the different patterns. For example, just by writing the codes out on my paper above my typed out thought process, I was able to see that I often had to read aloud to focus and reading aloud often came along with rereading of a passage. I found this planning process to be particularily helpful because of the in-class engagement that took place. A small group of my peers and I collectively determined the short hand codes for each activity, or the key. This helped me think through the different possibilities that could be present in my results.

Writing Self-Study Planning

Although this rough draft was made prior to any peer reviews, I feel as though the aforementioned group that was assembled in class was extremely beneficial towards writing my first paper for ENC 1101. I was able to grasp quickly that quantity didn't matter, but quality did. However, quality doesn't appear in small quantities, and I was therefore able to write more in depth about the different tactics I learned throughout my study.

Writing Self-Study Rough Draft

After the peer review guidances, I was able to make a few revisions and redirect my paper. I wasn't initially aware that the thesis or major claim didn't have to be a hook or a question to catch the audience's attention. Simply presenting what was going to be the reason for this paper is hook enough. I also was able to add citations that I had completely forgotten to add.

Writing Self-Study Final Draft

I revised my paper that was graded initially and is the reason for my standing grade for my Writing Process paper. I did this because it was the lowest grade of the semester and felt like it was what could use the most improvements. Using different techniques I learned throughout the semester, I was able to add missing citations, add more information about the study that I conducted, and I also expanded on work done by previous members of the Writing Process community.
